Why We Built This Site
Colorado gives the public several routes to court and government records, but Hinsdale County's small, rural court structure makes the right route matter. District Court and County Court records are handled through the Colorado Judicial Branch and the Clerk of Court at the Hinsdale County Courthouse in Lake City. The County Clerk and Recorder handles marriage licenses and recorded documents from the downstairs county office. The Sheriff's Office handles law enforcement records, custody questions, and warrant confirmation. Lake City Municipal Court handles municipal ordinance and town traffic matters.
The goal is to present those official channels in one local reference. Hinsdale County court users often need to know that court hours are limited, immediate assistance may route through Gunnison Combined Courts, and some records are state court records rather than county administrative records.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Colorado court, clerk's office, sheriff's office, municipal court, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document, marriage record, divorce decree, or vital record
- We cannot confirm an active warrant, court date, bond amount, or custody status
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific Colorado case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, schedule, or address listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point to the likely office, but the document has to come from that office.
Search Partners
Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own pricing and run their own services. When a visitor uses one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, this site may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep the reference pages available. We do not control what those tools charge, what appears in their results, or how often their data changes.
